Stampin' Out Alzheimers'

You may have noticed that cute little widget over there ---> that allows you to donate to the Stampin' Out Alzheimer's fundraiser. (If you've got me in your reader, click over!) I'm so excited to see that as of this morning, we have almost reached our goal! And, the event hasn't even started yet! Wahoo!

Anyway, Stampin' Out Alzheimer's is a "pay-to-play" fundraising event to benefit Alzheimer's research. All of the proceeds will go directly to The Alzheimer's Association. In exchange for you donation (which can be as little as $5 and as much as you can dream!), you will get access to the Stampin' Out Alzheimer's event (click on that title to be taken there), where you can participate in challenges, grab freebies, win TONS (we are talking hundreds - maybe thousands - of dollars worth) of prizes. It should be a fun and exciting event! People have been signing up all week long, so you won't want to miss out!

So, how did I get involved? Well, my very first Creative Team member (she was my ENTIRE creative team for a few months!), Jen Tapler has been organizing the event in honor of her father. He is a young man, only 58 years old, and he is moving into the later stages of the disease that has taken his memory and his personality away. You can read all about Jen's dad on the site's main page (and there is a link to the rest of his story - very touching - from there).

Jen hosted her first Stampin' Out Alzheimer's event on her blog last fall. It was a great success, but it was small-scale compared to this! I'm so proud of all of the work that she has put into this event, and I hope that it brings a lot more awareness, and funds, to this terrible disease.

When Jen mentioned this event and asked me to donate an exclusive freebie template to all participants, I immediately said yes and got really excited! I wanted the template to be special. Not just another 6-sided box.

You'll have to check back later to see what I came up with, but for now, here is a little sneak peak! I'm so excited about this!
So, go get registered for the event (donate, then register in the forum), or simply donate if you are not the scrapping/stamping type. The event runs from May 25th (Monday) through May 31st (Sunday). On Monday night, I'll post my project here for all to see, along with instructions for assembly!

    Great cause...can't wait!

(ummm...noticed your Twitter update...I have an almost 8 year old who still wears the bigger kid pullups at night-sleeps too hard to get up and go...I say if he's good during the day, he's trained. Nighttime is a whole 'nuther ball of wax...)
